Clare Hill

Clare Hill is a writer and author of Living Without Marbles
It's a must read book about surviving mental illness and not giving up. Clare says she wrote Living Without Marbles after being diagnosed with bipolar affective disorder and her moms death by overdose. The book providesan offbeat but insightful look into the workings of her unique mind!

Clare's main interests lie in changing the perceptions that people have of mental health service users, and providing some comfort to others who, like her, may be facing the challenges that living with mental health problems brings.

She says: "I guess my main message (ahh, sounding suspiciously like a self-help guru again!) is that, if I can get up and face life head-on (well, sometimes, anyway!) then so can you, dear reader, so can you.

I have one son, two boyfriends, and twenty-seven pairs of shoes. I recently discovered e-bay, which I confess I have been browsing when I should have been working. I have bought some interesting things, the most notable being a red latex skirt which I can't get past my thighs (that will teach me not to shop while manic!)

I started off writing as a kind of therapy for myself, people liked what I had written, and I went from there. I'm still coming to terms with my mental illness, and constantly discovering that, although I have things that I can't do (like getting out from under the duvet when I'm feeling frightened and suicidal) there are things I can do, like writing, as all of the inward looking stuff I have done as part of my therapy has given me an understanding of myself, and an empathy for others, which I would not have otherwise had.

Right, enough waffling!"

Living Without Marbles is available as an e-book from Chipmunka Publishing here's the link Living Without Marbles
